Cookie Policy

// Effective 2026-05-10
// In plain words

We use one cookie to keep you signed in, and a self-hosted analytics tool that stores an anonymous identifier in your browser to count page views. No advertising, no cross-site tracking, no third-party cookies.

// What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file stored in your browser by a website. It lets the site remember information between page loads.

// The cookies we set

Session cookie panoptik-session. Strictly necessary. It is HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Lax, encrypted and signed with a server-side secret (iron-session). Expires when you close your browser or after extended inactivity. Not accessible to JavaScript; never shared with third parties.

Analytics — we use OpenPanel, a self-hosted, privacy-friendly analytics tool running on EU infrastructure we control. It stores an anonymous visitor identifier in localStorage (not a cookie) to count unique visits. No personal data is collected; no data leaves our servers; there is no cross-site tracking.

// What we don't use cookies for

  • Advertising or retargeting.
  • Fingerprinting or cross-site identification.
  • Selling or sharing data with third parties.

// Third-party cookies

Our application sets no third-party cookies. Paddle (our payment provider) may set its own cookies when you visit a checkout page — those are covered by Paddle's privacy policy.

// Controlling cookies

Because the session cookie is strictly necessary for the service to work, you cannot opt out of it while using Panoptik. You can delete it at any time by signing out, or by clearing cookies for this site in your browser settings.

If you block the cookie entirely, you will not be able to sign in.

// Changes

If we ever add non-essential cookies we will update this policy and notify you before doing so.
